REVIEW: The Titan's Bride (manga, vol. 1) by ITKZ, translated by Katrina Leonoudakis

The Titan's Bride is a BL fantasy manga. I bought my copy of this volume new.

Review:

High school senior Kouichi is thinking about graduation and girls when he decides to take a break and masturbate to let off a bit of steam. At that exact moment, he is summoned to another world where he is declared to be the fated bride-to-be of Caius, the crown prince of the kingdom of the Titans. Kouichi has some understandable concerns about his new role - he's male, and much smaller than Caius, and they've just met - which Caius cheerfully brushes off (hey, who knows, maybe a male human can get pregnant with a Titan's child?). However, Caius wants Kouichi to feel comfortable, so he promises not to force himself on him and asks for a month to convince him to stay and be his bride.

Er, so Caius has a different definition of forcing himself on someone than I do. I would think that giving someone a sudden handjob would count, but what do I know? And yet this is somehow still weirdly cute. Caius is a big, devoted golden retriever of a guy, and Kouichi finds himself drawn to him in spite of himself (and despite previously only ever being interested in girls, as far as I could see - but again, whatever). There is sex galore - Titans consider it their duty to devote themselves to "prosperity," which apparently includes having sex wherever and whenever they please - but it generally came across as good-natured, and it probably helped that Kouichi adjusted to his new situation amazingly quickly.

I'll wrap this up with the last couple sentences in my notes:

"Do you have no shame?"

and

"God help me, I kind of want to read more volumes."

Okay, so it's absolutely porn, but it's good-natured and fluffy porn so far, with a nice sprinkling of humor and plot.

Extras:

Three bonus comics, including one that reimagines the series with Caius being transported to Kouichi's world, and one in which the author pokes fun at an advertising/character sheet mistake that led to Caius officially being shorter than he actually is.
