I just wanted it around so that I could have instant gratification if the show gave me a sudden urge to start reading the next book. :)

I remembered seeing a blog post about the problems with George R.R. Martin's female POV writing, so I think I was hypersensitive to how the female characters were represented. I still totally enjoyed the book, but those things stuck in my mind while I was pulling my post together. Daenerys has tons of potential, so I can't wait to see what happens with her, although I've heard some ominous things about the fourth (or maybe fifth) book where she's concerned.A Library Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06144279685884011943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094562384038868734.post-85737259742469187142013-06-03T15:36:44.419-05:002013-06-03T15:36:44.419-05:00I'm a big fan of this book. I think your issues with the portrayal of women is pretty right on. Still I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading it. I own the second book but still haven't gotten around to reading it. I should get on that.Beta Magnushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12090196394955870455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094562384038868734.post-59430833409960421992013-06-02T16:56:01.455-05:002013-06-02T16:56:01.455-05:00I just started the first season maybe 20 minutes a...I just started the first season maybe 20 minutes ago, and that's already clear. Tyrion liked prostitutes in the book, but most of it was him thinking about women, with very little actual sex. I guess HBO figured "sex sells, so why not?" Still worried about the rapes though. I'm sure they'll be in the show, and they'll be awful no matter what, but I'd take fade-to-black.A Library Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06144279685884011943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094562384038868734.post-14393461664275490342013-06-02T16:40:22.897-05:002013-06-02T16:40:22.897-05:00LOTS of sex and nudity in the TV series.LOTS of sex and nudity in the TV series.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09902380558583190500noreply@blogger.com
