The overall addictiveness of the show reminded me a lot of soap operas, but I definitely agree with you on the beauty of the show - this is probably the most beautiful soap opera in existence! When some of them refused to work any longer, the cook was forced to clean up everything himself, after having prepared the meal. I think the dessert at the meal was sorbet, and I remember being horrified and fascinated about the fretting over the time it would take to get them up to the diners, because the old-fashioned methods for making it left it only barely frozen enough. I'll have to see what my options are for watching that.A Library Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06144279685884011943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094562384038868734.post-54810922601908405982012-10-14T19:31:53.528-05:002012-10-14T19:31:53.528-05:00You might also like the PBS series Manor House, wh...You might also like the PBS series Manor House, which explores what it was like to live and work in an Edwardian era country house. The sheer drudgery of a life in service was well illustrated. There was no such thing as a 40-hour work week. They went through 3 scullery maids during the filming.
